Museo Nazionale Ferroviario di Pietrarsa
National Railway Museum of Pietrarsa In this place the history of the Italian railways was born. On 3 October 1839, the first railway track in Italy was inaugurated in the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies. It was 7,411 meters long and connected Naples to Portici, on the same route as the Naples-Salerno line, which today runs alongside the Museum area. The new course undertaken by the FS Foundation aims to make the Pietrarsa Museum a real modern cultural center: it is an ideal location for events of various kinds, and one of the largest Congress Centers in the South, with a capacity, in the pavilion of steam locomotives, with 1000 seats. Alongside major events, many other initiatives enrich and expand the offer, with openings until late at night and during holidays.
